Willie Nelson is recognized for a handful of issues – becoming a Texan, his nation music and of course, his affinity for marijuana. But in a current interview, Nelson produced a jaw-dropping revelation: He’s no longer smoking weed.

In the course of a two-evening stint at the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Nelson located time to sit down with a neighborhood reporter. During the KSAT interview, the 86-year-old mentioned he’s taking greater care of his overall health. “I have abused my lungs fairly a bit in the previous, so breathing is a small extra complicated these days and I have to be cautious,” he mentioned.

“I began smoking cedar bark, went from that to cigarettes to what ever,” Nelson continued. “And that just about killed me.”

This prompted Nelson to make an essential selection.”I do not smoke any longer – take greater care of myself,” he revealed.

Current overall health concerns have sparked rumors about Nelson dying, but he does not spend that any thoughts. “I do not give a (expletive),” he told KSAT. “I’m right here, I’m glad to be right here. I’m fortunate to be right here.”

The interview spread far beyond Nelson’s property state of Texas, with lots of readers musing it seemed to be the finish of an era for Nelson. The singer has written songs about smoking weed – and has had weed songs written about him.

In 2003, nation singer Toby Keith wrote “Weed with Nelson,” about some backstage blunt passing. In 2015, Nelson and Merle Haggard released “It’s All Going To Pot.” And of course, Nelson recorded a song with fellow cannabis aficionado, Snoop Dogg.

And on his 86th birthday in April, Nelson appeared – smoking weed – on cover star of Rolling Stone’s marijuana problem, saying “marijuana saved my life.”

It seems smoking weed will no longer be Nelson’s “medicine.” His admission to providing up smoking is shocking, but thinking about he had to cancel shows due a breathing trouble earlier this year, he may well be critical.
